During this consultation, the gynecologist will perform a series of questions, tests and tests to obtain relevant information on the reproductive health of the patient or partner, During a fertility consultation the doctor can evaluate the following parameters to detect possible factors that point to possible infertility and thus be able to have a clearer diagnosis and define an appropriate treatment to achieve a pregnancy.
Medical history: The doctor will collect detailed information about the patient’s medical history, including gynecological, obstetric, surgical, and family history.
Menstrual history: The patient’s menstrual cycle will be discussed, including regularity, duration, and any irregularities that may be relevant to fertility.
Lifestyle and habits: Lifestyle factors that could affect fertility, such as diet, exercise, alcohol, tobacco and drug use, can be discussed.
Physical examination: The gynecologist will perform a physical exam that may include evaluation of reproductive organs, such as the uterus and ovaries, by palpation or ultrasound.
Ovulation tests: To evaluate ovulation, your doctor may recommend home ovulation tests or blood tests to measure hormone levels.
Ovarian reserve tests: Tests can be done to evaluate the quantity and quality of eggs, such as measuring antimüllerian hormone (AMH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH).
Sperm analysis: If the partner is involved, a sperm analysis may be done to evaluate the quality and quantity of the sperm.
Fallopian tube permeability tests: To make sure the fallopian tubes are permeable, tests such as hysterosalpingography (HSG) or laparoscopy may be done.
Counseling: The gynecologist will provide guidance on the plan to follow for obtaining a healthy pregnancy, the right time to have sex, and may suggest lifestyle changes to improve the chances of conception.
